Lee University junior Audrey Smith is the Gulf South Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. This is Smith’s second consecutive week as Runner of the Week, and she has been awarded the honor four times already this season.
Racing at the Royals XC Challenge, Smith broke a Lady Flames program record with a 5K time of 17:48.4. The Acworth, Ga. native placed sixth in the race and, in the process, helped Lee to a fourth place team finish. Smith’s record time broke this season’s previous 5K best by a GSC runner, which she herself owned, by 30 seconds.
Smith and the Lady Flames will now gear up for the GSC Championship on Oct. 22 from Hunstville, Ala.
