MaKayla Beebe has been named the Lee University Female Athlete of the Week after guiding the Lady Flames' volleyball team to a 2-1 record and a birth in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

Beebe started the week with 23 digs in a 3-2 victory over non-conference foe Trevecca Nazarene. The native of Aurora, Ill. recorded 21 digs in a loss at Shorter and finished the week with 22 digs in a 3-1 victory over Mississippi College.

Beebe, a sophomore libero, was named to the All-GSC Second Team. She helped the women of coach Andrea Hudson finish the regular season with a winning record 15-14, and .500 in the GSC 10-10.

Beebe, who has developed into a high quality defensive specialist, finished with a 4.89 digs per game average, and was just behind West Florida's Tori Martello. The first-team All-GSC selection averaged 4.90 per game. "Makayla has had an amazing year," noted Hudson. "She has been a defensive threat all year and so many of the opposing coaches have paid her compliments. She is an amazing leader on the court, and I am so happy for her to get this her first year as a libero."
