BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Lee University women’s basketball guard Taylor Boggess has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week.

Boggess was tied for the game-high in points scored in Tuesday’s 73-47 win over AUM, tallying a career-high 16 points for the Lady Flames. Boggess shot 60 percent from the floor in the contest, went 3-for-7 from three-point range, and grabbed four rebounds.

The Meigs County native is averaging 5.7 points per contest while shooting 44 percent from the field. Boggess is the second consecutive Lady Flame to receive the freshman weekly honor, joining Abby Bertram.

This contest marked the end of non-conference play for Lee, who concluded action outside the league with a 5-1 record. The Lady Flames are 6-1 overall, also earning a conference win over Shorter. Conference play for the GSC will be fully underway this Thursday, Dec. 15 as the Lady Flames host Mississippi College at 6 p.m. They will close out the pre-Christmas slate with a visit from Delta State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
