Lee senior golfer Shea Sylvester has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week after a top-five showing at the Gulf South Conference Championship.
In addition to a third place finish at last week's GSC Tournament the Roswell, Ga. native was named a semifinalists for the prestigious 2017 Division II Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol.
Sylvester has won two tournaments this season and boasts a 70.83 scoring average. He has been named to the GSC All-Conference and All-Tournament teams each of the past two seasons.
"Shea is one of the finest players to come through Lee University—he's had a remarkable career, and a special senior year," noted Maupin. "He is very deserving of this honor, and I certainly think a great candidate to be a finalist for DII National Player of the Year. His commitment and work ethic continue to take him a long way. There's a lot of great players out there, but we wouldn't trade Shea for anyone, he's our guy."
