BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Lee women's soccer goalkeeper Taylor Green has been named the Gulf South Conference Defender of the Week the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Green, who played her high school ball just down the road at Chattanooga's Notre Dame High School, posted two clean sheets in leading the No. 17 Lady Flames to victories over Alabama Huntsville and West Alabama last weekend.

Green has appeared in six matches and is 5-0 while not allowing goal in 495 minutes of work.  The red shirt sophomore has faced 21 shots and recorded six saves.

"I am very happy for Taylor. She has worked incredibly hard over the past three seasons and it is nice to see her playing with a lot confidence right now," said head coach Chris Hennessey. "Hopefully this will be the first of many over the next couple of years."

Green and the Lady Flames are currently 12-4 overall and 11-2 in the GSC. Lee wraps up the regular season on Thursday as it hosts Shorter at 7 p.m. A win would clinch the No. 1 seed and a share of the regular season conference crown for the third straight year.
