BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Lee men's basketball guard Michael McGuirk has been named the GSC Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.

McGuirk dropped 21 points on Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday as the Flames lost in a close one, 67-66 to the Lions. The White Plains, Ala. native canned three triples and was 5 of 9 from the field in the contest.

"I thought Michael was the only player who really attacked their zone tonight," said head coach Bubba Smith after Tuesday's game. "He's a very skilled shooter but he was really aggressive and attacked the defense which was big for us."

McGuirk and the Flames will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Cumberland University in a non-conference battle at 8 p.m.
