BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lee University's Taylor Moran continued to swing her red hot bat this past week and was honored as the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.
Moran went a sizzling 12 for 20 (.600) with three home runs, two doubles and 11 RBI to lead the Lady Flames to a 3-2 week and a much need series win over GSC rival No. 14 West Florida over the weekend.
"Taylor has had a great week as part of her phenomenal season," said head coach Emily Russell. "She continues to see the ball very well and work counts to her favor. She doesn't get rattled and keeps herself in each at bat one pitch at a time."
Moran, a Silverdale Academy product, leads the GSC in home runs (13), hits (59), RBI (55) and total bases (108). The slugging first baseman is second in slugging (.824), second in on-base percentage (.569), second in walks (25), fifth in average (.450) and fifth in doubles (11).
Moran and the Lady Flames will travel to Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday before visiting Delta State on Saturday and Sunday in another crucial GSC three-game series as they fight for a spot in the GSC Tournament.
