BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lee University lacrosse newcomer Kaylyn Dillon has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.
Dillon continued her impressive first season with the Lady Flames this past week as she scored four goals in a 20-12 loss to Alabama Huntsville while adding three more scores in Friday's 19-2 drubbing of Shorter University.
The Massillon, Ohio product is third on the team with 33 goals. Dillon and the Lady Flames finished up the program's second regular season with an impressive turnaround going 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the GSC.
"Kaylyn has been a consistent, hard worker who has brought a lot to the team this year. She has truly stepped up as a midfielder the last few weeks, playing great defense, going for every loose ball, and making the most of her opportunities on attack," said head coach Addie Wadley. "I am very proud of her fight and determination, especially in the last few games. I am so glad to see her recognized for her accomplishments."
Lee will hit the field again on April 27 as it makes its first postseason appearance in the GSC Tournament. Seeding will be determined when the regular season officially comes to a close at the end of this week.
