JACKSON, Tenn. – Lee women's basketball junior Abby Bertram has landed on the 2018-19 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Women's Basketball All-South Region Second Team the organization announced this week.
Bertram led the Lady Flames to the program's first Gulf South Conference Championship and third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 25-6 record, averaging 14.5 points per game and canning 73 triples.
Bertram, a 5-foot-9 guard from Kingston, Tenn, scored 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds and was named the tournament's most outstanding player in win over Valdosta State in the GSC title game. Bertram was a first team All-GSC selection and lands on the all-region team for the first time in her career.
The south's all-region team is voted on by the Sports Information Director's from the South Region, made up of institutions from the Gulf South Conference (GSC), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and Sunshine State Conference (SSC).
Florida Southern College's Camile Giardina was voted as the South Region Player of the Year. Giardina led her team to the SSC regular season and tournament titles, as well as, a No. 1 seed and host for the South Region Tournament. She averaged 19.5 points per game.
Joining Giardina on the D2CCA First Team All-South Region was GSC Player of the Year, Toni Brewer of the University of West Florida, Anja Fuchs-Robetin (Florida Southern), Morgan Martin (Union University), and Halee Nieman (West Florida).
