Angie Hughes has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week after opening the 2014 campagin with a no-hitter in Lee's 2-0 blanking of Tusculum College on Sunday morning.

Hughes (1-0) struck out 15 Pioneer batters while yielding only three walks in dominating from start to finish inside the circle for the Lady Flames. The Blairsville, Ga. native recorded her first no-hitter last season as a freshmen in a 6-0 victory over Blue Mountain College on March 8, 2013.

The Lady Flames were set to play four games in Savannah, Ga. as a part of the Armstrong Atlantic Tournament but rained forced the other three contests to be cancelled.

Hughes will look to pick up where she left off in Savannah as the Lee softball team will head down to Clearwater, Fla. to take part in the Eckerd Tournament. The Lady Flames will play five games over the weekend beginning on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Saint Leo.
