Cayce Bryan has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week following a suberb showing at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships last week in Bourbonnais, Ill.
Bryan captured Lee's only individual national title finishing first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.65.
The junior would also play a major role in the women's 4x800 meter relay team. Joined by teammates Brianna Prugh, Emily Bryan, and Jessica Childers, Bryan started the day with a second place finish in the event with a time of 9:35.25. The team placed just behind Indiana Wesleyan University's winning mark of 9:31.52.
"It's a big honor," said Bryan. "I tried to stay at the front of the pack and then the last 100 meters I was able to move into the lead. When I crossed the line it felt good to know that my hard work has brought me this far."
The two-time NCCAA All-American will now turn her attention to the spring season as Lee opens up on Mar. 21 with the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.
