Kim Conrad, a senior defender from Murfreesboro, is listed as the conference defensive player of the week. Conrad was a key reason coach Matt Yelton’s club opened SSAC play with two SSAC wins. Against Spring Hill she helped with the organization of Lee’s defense that limited the visiting Badgers to only four shots the entire match.
However, it was in the tight battle with Mobile that Conrad grabbed the spotlight. With the Lady Flames on top 1-0, Conrad chased down a Ram attacker after she had beaten Lee’s keeper, clearing the ball away from an almost certain tying goal. She was a part of a solid Lady Flames defense that limited Mobile to only two shots on goal.
Lee will take a 5-1 mark on the road this weekend, testing William Carey on Friday in Hattiesburg, Miss. and then moving on to Jackson, Miss. on Saturday to challenge Belhaven.
