Right-handed pitcher Dustin Lawson has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week after starting two of the Flames' four victories last week.

Lawson began the week working four scoreless innings in Lee's 11-4 win over Trevecca Nazarene. The junior allowed just two hits while recording four punchouts.

The Cleveland native would come back just four days later and earn the victory in Lee's 1-0 blanking of Gulf South Conference rival Christian Brothers. Lawson started and worked 6 1/3 scoreless innings to help give the Flames their first three-game conference sweep of the season. Lawson surrendered just four hits, no walks and struck out four.

After red-shirting last year, Lawson has been a mainstay in coach Mark Brew's rotation this spring compiling a 5-3 record with a 2.47 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .204 off the righty on the season.

The Flames (30-17) will have some time off before they begin postseason play in the NCCAA Mid-East Region. Lee will host the regional tournament on May 6-9 from Olympic Field. The winner will advance to the NCCAA World Series in Mason, Ohio (May 14-17).
