Flames Tennis Takes Down Emmanuel

Claim First Win Of Season


The Lee men’s tennis team took to the courts for the first time in two weeks and came away with an 8-1 win over SSAC opponent Emmanuel College. The Flames improved to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Lions dropped to 0-2 in the SSAC and 3-6 overall.

After a scare at No. 1 doubles, the Flames easily claimed a sweep of the doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead.

Richard Gamble and Daniel Hardesty outlasted Emmanuel’s Ty Smith and Pasha Zinchenko, 8-6. The team of Vincent Audy and Fabio Medina recorded an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Andre Ishida and Patrick Kim won by the same margin at No. 3 doubles.

Smith gave the Lions there lone win with a 10-5 super tie-breaker win over Gamble after the two split the first two sets.

Lee earned victories at the other five singles matches in straight sets. Audy dropped just one game against Zinchenko and Hardesty held Marshall to three game wins.

Medina held off Spivey to win his first set, 6-4, and won the match with a 6-1 mark in the second set.

Ishida had little trouble with Tyner and Kim blanked Brown.

Next up for the Flames will be Shorter University on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
