The Lee men’s tennis team made the final preparations for the upcoming Southern States Athletic Conference championships with a 7-2 defeat of Milligan College Saturday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center.
The Flames will carry a 4-4 record into next weekend’s action in Montgomery, Ala.
The Flames won 2-of-3 in doubles play with Milligan (6-11) earning victories at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles.
Richard Gamble and Fabio Medina took down Andy Pullen and Colin Bumann, 8-2. Patrick Kim and Andre Ishida were 8-1 winners against Caleb Friddell and Mickey Brown.
Vincent Audy and Kevin Tan were edged, 8-5, by Sebastian Jonsson and Jackson Lenoir.
Gamble overcame a 6-1 loss in the first set of his No. 1 singles match against Pullen to record a three-set win, while Medina and Kim were easy straight-set winners over Jonsson and Lenoir, respectively.
Tan dropped his first set 6-4 and won the second set 6-1 against Friddell. The third set super-tiebreaker went in Tan’s favor, 11-9.
Ishida and Brown played a pro set with Ishida claiming an 8-6 margin.
Audy lost a tightly contest first set with a 7-5 mark in thetie-breaker. Bumann sealed the match with a 6-2 tally in the second set.
