The Lee University men’s tennis team won 2-of-3 doubles matches and earned victories at the top four singles spots to claim a 6-3 win over Reinhardt University Saturday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center.
Richard Gamble and Daniel Hardesty made short work of Jacob Barnette and Steven Sepulveda with an 8-2 score at No. 1 doubles.
Vincent Audy and Kevin Tan teamed up for an 8-3 mark over Andrew Cobb and Matt Porter to give Lee (2-4) an early 2-0 lead.
Reinhardt (4-4) got on the board after Nick Draghiceanu and Garrick Sanford edged Patrick Kim and Andre Ishida, 8-6.
Gamble, Audy, Hardesty and Fabio Medina recorded straight-set singles wins to give the team the positive result.
Gamble dropped three games against Cobb, Audy lost just one game and Hardesty blanked Sepulveda. Medina won both sets with matching 6-4 margins.
Patrick Kim needed a tie-breaker to win his first set against Garrick Sanford. Sanford would recover to win the second set 6-1 before claiming the No. 5 singles match with a 10-3 super tie-break.
Draghiceanu gave Reinhardt a third point with a two-set defeat of Kevin Tan. Following a 6-2 mark in the first set, Tan fell 7-3 in a second-set tie-breaker.
The Flames return to the DeVos Tennis Center Tuesday afternoon to face Tennessee Wesleyan College. The non-conference match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
