EVENSVILLE, Tenn. – Cayce Bryan ran a new personal best and improved her NAIA-qualifying time in the 800 meter run during the Bryan College/Swiftwick Classic. The event was held on the newly renovated Rhea County High School track.
The sophomore paced the 800 meter field and won by nine seconds with an A qualifying time of 2:11.9. Storyie Miller was third (2:24.9), Emily Arnesen was seventh (2:28.2) and Brianna Prugh crossed the finish line in eighth (2:31.7).
"Cayce ran her fastest 800 meter ever tonight, at an ideal time during the season,” said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. “She is looking very strong and we look for her to be at the front in the 800 meter at nationals. Arnesen setting a personal best adds to our depth in the women's 4x800 meter relay.”
Ashley Matthews and Alexis Hewitt posted top-four finishes in the 5000 meter run. Matthews placed second with a time of 19:01.4 and Hewitt was fourth (19:48.8).
"Our girls looked great tonight. We look forward to the next two and a half weeks of training going into nationals,” added Morgan.
