Blazers Burn Lady Flames, 3-0

Lee to Battle No. 21 West Florida on Saturday

Beginning a difficult stretch against the Gulf South Conference's top teams the Lee volleyball team fell to Valdosta State, 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-14) on Friday evening.

The Lady Flames (6-10, 4-6) will look to bounce back on short rest as they turn around on Saturday to test No. 21 West Florida in Pensacola at 4 p.m. Lee returns home to face front-running Shorter University inside Walker Arena on Tuesday night.

The Blazers move to 11-3 on the year and 8-3 in conference action. Valdosta currently sits in third-place in the GSC behind Shorter and West Florida.

Freshman Brooke Wilsman continued her string of solid play with a team-high seven kills to pace the Lady Flames attack. Senior Lauren Williams followed with six slams and four blocks.

Latrice Johnson and Stephanie Hernandez teamed up for 10 digs respectively while Sadie Johnson set things up with 13 assists.

Jenna Kirkwood got things going for the Blazers with a match-high 16 kills. Kelsey Hedman added 10 slams while Jessica Codato tallied 36 assists and 12 digs.

The loss drops Lee to 1-3 against Valodsta in the all-time series. The two clubs split the season series last year while the Blazers swept both matches from the Lady Flames this season.
