MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The road has not been kind to Lee coach Andrea Hudson and her young Lady Flames. They dropped a 3-0 match to host Christian Brothers in a Gulf South Conference match on Friday evening.
The Lady Bucs won the first set 25-17. Lee battled back to cut the margin to 25-21 in the second set and the Lady Bucs took control in the final set, 25-16. Lee drops to 5-8 overall and 3-5 in GSC. Christian Brothers improved its record to 7-7 and 5-4 against conference competition.
The Lady Flames managed only 31 kills and .143 hitting percentage in the loss. Brooke Wilsman had nine kills for the Lady Flames. Lauren Williams countered with seven kills, three digs and six blocks. Catherine Conley added six kills.
Haley Foote dished off 16 assists and Sadie Johnson had 14 in the loss. Stephanie Hernandez had 14 digs and Sarah Davis followed with nine.
For the Lady Bucs, Brinsley Cooper had nine kills and Alexis Gillis countered with eight. Christian Brothers had a .286 hitting percentage. Sami Gruse contributed 29 assists and Cooper also tallied nine blocks.
The Lady Flames will continue their road adventures on Saturday afternoon when they travel back to Jackson, Tenn. and face a former TranSouth Conference rival in Union University.
