Flames Tennis Blanked By No. 23 West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala -- The Lee University men's tennis team lost a Gulf South Conference (GSC) match for the first time this season by a 9-0 score to No. 23 University of West Alabama.

West Alabama (10-1, 2-1 GSC) swept the doubes portion of the match to take the early 3-0 lead. Richard Gamble and Daniel Hardesty lost 8-3 to Nestor Vargas and Kike Ruiz.

Alberto Calle and Westley Lemke fell 8-2 to Adam Drysdale and Anton Ivanov at No. 2 doubles. Kevin Tan and Vincent Audy lost by the same score to Simon Bardell and Manuel Grossmann.

Lee (1-3, 1-1 GSC) lost all six singles matches in straight sets. Gamble attained the closest scores at 6-2, 6-3 to Vargas. Audy was beaten by Ruiz 6-1, 6-4. Lemke won four games from Grossman. Hardesty recorded two game wins against Drysdale and Calle garnered one game against Ivanov.

The Flames remain on the road to face the University of North Alabama Saturday morning. The GSC match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
