The Lee University men's tennis team dropped its fifth consecutive match by a 7-2 margin to The University of Alabama in Huntsville Wednesday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. The Flames fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the GSC.
Alabama Huntsville (4-3, 2-3 GSC) took a 2-1 lead following the doubles matches. Richard Gamble and Daniel Hardesty lost 8-3 to Jose Soto and Nestor Perez at No. 1 doubles. Alberto Calle and Westley Lemke were edged 9-7 by Fredrik Graaner and Bruno Medeiros.
At No. 3 doubles, Kevin Tan and Vincent Audy gave Lee a team point with an 8-5 victory over Pablo Herrero and Harrison Stone.
UAH claimed 5-of-6 singles matches with four of the wins going in straight sets. Hardesty bested Perez 6-2 in their first set. Perez rebounded to win the next two sets 6-4 and 6-0.
Audy picked up his second win of the day at No. 5 singles. He dropped just four games in recording the two set win.
Lee has two weeks off before they see action again. The Flames host Young Harris College on March 19 at 2 p.m.
