For the first time Lee University has female co-winners of the women's Charles Paul Conn Athlete of the Year Award. Golfer Courtney Shelton and basketball standout Hollie German share the honor while Brice Sharp is the recipient of the male award.

The awards are presented annually to individuals who best exemplify the athletic, academic and spiritual leadership of Lee University student athletes.

German's accolades include:
 
3.98 GPA in Math/Secondary Education, 2014 WBCA NCAA Division II All-American (our first), 2014 CoSIDA NCAA Division II All-American, 2014 NCCAA Player of the Year, 2014 Region Player of the Year, 2013 WBCA All-American, 2013 NAIA First-Team All-American, three-time Scholar Athlete Award winner, all-time leading scorer in school history with 2300 points,

Said women's basketball coach Marty Rowe, "Hollie is just a wonderful teammate, leader, Christian role model and really the epitome of what we as coaches want our players to be. Hollie (and I know everyone will agree) is the best to ever play her sport at our university. I know as coaches that we all feel like our kid is better than somebody else's but with me and my coaching staff, we've just known for the last two years that when we stepped onto the floor we had the best player on the court."

"I am extremely honored and humbled to be receiving this award along with my two other fellow athletes," said German. "This award means so much to me because it measures so much more than just pure athletic ability alone. This award also embodies the traits and characteristics that I wanted to finish my career here at Lee University having. I wanted to leave this program knowing that I had done my best athletically, academically, and spiritually in order to make a difference in the lives of the people around me."
 
Shelton's Awards and Accomplishments:
3.975 GPA with a Political Science major, has been accepted to the following Law Schools- Wake Forest University, the University of Tennessee, and Emory University, led the team to first four national tournament appearances, led the team to the 2014 NCCAA National Championship, and was 2014 NCCAA individual national champion, two-time SSAC Player of the Year, two-time SSAC medalist, 10 career collegiate wins, the most of any player in program history, three-time SSAC All-Conference, NAIA Academic All-American, two-time NAIA First Team All-American, led the team to 19 team wins in 40 career tournaments. She also served as president of Lee University's first Student Athlete Advisory Council.

"Courtney's accomplishments are incredible and they speak for themselves," said coach John Maupin. "She will go down as the most decorated player in the history of Lee golf, men or women.  However, as I told our entire team at our banquet, what I will remember most about Courtney and the legacy she has left behind, is her ability to compete while putting others first.  She is without question one of the finest young people I have had the privilege of being around.

Said Shelton, "It's an honor to be the co-winner of the Female Athlete of the Year Award with Hollie who had such a fantastic career at Lee while on the court as well as in the classroom. I am so grateful for such a supportive coach (Maupin), team, and athletic department that made my career here possible and allowed me to exceed all of my own expectations.
 
Sharp's accolades include:
 
Solid four-year member of Lee men's basketball, plus being injured and receiving a red-shirt year, started in 16 of 26 games during senior season, helped Flames make four-straight appearances in NAIA National Tournaments, 2012 NAIA Pattison Scholarship Award/2012 Champions of Character Award, named to  Musco Lighting Character of Character Team, helped Flames win 91 games during his four-year career.
 
"On the court, Brice is a great competitor and in the class room he epitomizes what a student-athlete should be," said coach Tommy Brown. "He is person of great character and my respect for him is immense."
 
Said Sharp, "It is an honor and privilege to receive this award. I am thankful for Lee University for developing me into a student athlete that I always dreamed of being."
