Lady Flames Fall to West Alabama, 3-1

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After scoring a first set victory (25-18) the Lee volleyball team was turned away in the next three sets (15-25, 22-25, 20-25) falling to West Alabama, 3-1 in Gulf South Conference (GSC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Flames (2-4, 2-3) were hoping to build off the momentum of two consecutive conference victories (North Alabama, at Mississippi College) but the Tigers (4-6,4-2) had other ideas in claiming the four-set victory.

Lee was led by sophomore Erin Hill. The Sale Creek native turned in her third consecutive double-double performance with 10 kills and 13 assists. Senior Latrice Johnson registered a team-high 11 kills while Patty Orozco gave the Lady Flames three players in double-figure slams with 10.

The libero team of senior Sarah Davis and junior Stephanie Hernandez led the defense with 15 and 11 digs respectively.

West Alabama was anchored by Yanesha Johnson with 12 kills. Callie Murphy would set things up with 16 assists to go along with 11 digs. Sadie Beam tallied a match high 16 digs.

Coach Andrea Hudson's club will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday night when they welcome GSC-foe West Georgia to Walker Arena at 7 p.m. Following the conference match the Lady Flames will play four matches in two days as they host their annual Lee Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
