After exacting some revenge on Alabama-Huntsville earlier in the day, the Lee volleyball team completed the Saturday sweep with a 3-1 victory over Trevecca Nazarene in the nightcap from Walker Arena.
The Lady Flames improve to 10-13 overall and are now 9-3 at home on the sport court after beating the Trojans for the second time this year. Trevecca falls to 12-9 on the season after beating Alabama-Huntsville 3-1 earlier in the day.
Lee limped out of the gate following to the upstart Trevecca club 25-13 in the opening set. The Lady Flames would bounce back to win a back-and-forth second set, 25-21 and third set 25-22. Lee closed things out with a dominating 25-15 performance in the final set.
Silvia Sartori posted her second double-double of the day with a career-high 20 digs to go along with 16 digs. Catherine Conley was in double-figures with 16 slams and and made the most of her attacks with a .406 hitting percentage. Hillary Hoffpauir got the offensive in motion with a career-high 44 assists.Â
Libero Stephanie Hernandez roamed the back line with 26 digs while Sarah Davis added 10.Â
"We have started going with a new lineup and I really think the girls are responding to that," said head coach Andrea Hudson. "Hillary has stepped up and taken on the primary setter role and is playing well for us. Silvia and Cat (Catherine Conley) are doing a great job in our attack as well."
The Trojans were paced by Katelyn Atkinson's 24 kills and five blocks while Hayden McCay chipped in 10 slams. Loren Bennett set things up with 47 assists.Â
LU 3, UAH 0What a difference six weeks makes. On September 9 in Huntsville, Alabama the Lee volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by the University of Alabama Huntsville. On Saturday afternoon the Lady Flames overpowered the visitors and walked away with an impressive 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 26-24) Gulf South Conference victory.
"UAH has been up and down like we have been this season," said assistant coach Kevin Hudson. "It's just good to win a set again. I don't think we've won one since the Emory match."
The Lady Flames used their strength at the net to overpower the Chargers. Sylvia Sartori finished with a double-double, 14 kills, 12 digs and a pair of aces. Catherine Conley followed close behind with 12 kills and a sizzling .524 attack mark. She also went to the net for three blocks. Emily Bento chipped in with eight kills and three blocks.
Hilary Hoffpauir set her teammates up with 35 key assists, while Stephanie Hernandez picked up 19 digs.Â
Senior Sarah Davis sparked Lee's second set victory using a consistent serve and recorded a pair of aces as Lee waltzed to a convincing 25-12 decision. Â
The Chargers got seven kills from Anna LeDuc. Kristen Giles contributed 24 assists and added 16 digs.Â
The victory improved the Lady Flames to  5-8 in GSC play. Alabama Huntsville slipped to  8-7.
