Volleyball Falls Short to Lady Hawks

Sartori Paces Lee Attack with 12 Kills

 

ROME, Ga. – Despite outlasting Shorter University in the opening set the Lee Volleyball team took a road loss on Thursday evening, falling 3-1 to the Lady Hawks.

The Lady Flames opened the match with a 29-27 victory over the Georgia club. Shorter would respond and take the next three sets to seal the victory (25-20, 25-19, 25-18).

Freshman outside hitter Silvia Sartori continued to pace the Lady Flames attack. The Serbian product registered 12 kills. Sophomore Brooke Wilsman added a double-double with 10 slams and 11 digs.

Sadie Johnson and Hillary Hoffpauir teamed up to set the offensive in motion for Lee. Johnson had 22 assists while Hoffpauir tallied 17. Senior libero Stephanie Hernandez recorded a match-high 25 digs.

Shorter was led by Elizabeth Dowd with 14 kills and BreAnna Thompson followed closely behind with 10. Tiffany Estep paced the defensive effort with six blocks while Cheyenne McLemore had 21 digs.

The loss drops Lee back to .500 at 7-7 on the year and 3-6 in the GSC. Shorter improves to 8-4 overall and 6-3 in league play.

The Lady Flames will be back in action on Saturday at Walker Arena as they host GSC rival Mississippi College at 1 p.m.
