BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lee men's soccer team seemed to feel the weight of its fourth match in a week as it fell, 6-0 to Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday afternoon in the Wyndham Deerfield Soccer Classic hosted by Lynn University.
Lucas Da Silva got things going for the Sailfish in the 27
th minute as he struck from the top of the box on an assist from Lucas Coutinho. Just two minutes later PBAU would make it 2-0 as Oscar Farias beat Lee goalkeeper Tom Halsall one on one.
It was more of the same in the second period as the Sailfish struck for four more goals to complete the shutout victory. Farias scored his second goal while Jerry Saint-Vil, Zach Sitler and Phill Cardoso also got in on the act.
Halsall would finish with 10 saves despite giving up the six goals. Palm Beach goalie Steeven Raymont was credited with one save in keeping the clean sheet.
The Florida club fired off 24 shots, a whopping 16 coming on goal. Lee settled for just three total shots and had one on frame in the contest. The Flames recorded one corner kick while Palm Beach Atlantic had seven.
The Flames will need to have a short memory as they prepare to battle the defending NCAA D2 National Champions and host school Lynn University, tomorrow at 7 p.m.
"It was just one of those nights. They were a good, explosive team but we didn't help our cause at all," said head coach Paul Furey. "We just need to regroup and have a new mindset for tomorrow."
