Lady Flames Take Down Rollins In Crossover Opener

Conley Helps Lead Lee To Third Straight Victory

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lee volleyball team continued its winning ways on Friday afternoon with a four-set victory over Rollins College to open up the South Region Crossover Tournament.

The Lady Flames will head back on the court to wrap up the two-day event against teams from the Sunshine State Conference on Saturday as they battle Florida Tech at 10 a.m. and Embry-Riddle at 2:30 p.m. Lee defeated Florida Tech in straights sets and lost to Embry-Riddle, 3-1 earlier in the year.

The two clubs exchanged blows in an evenly contest first set as neither team held a lead of over two points the entire set. Lee would take the opening battle, 26-24 thanks to back-to-back errors by Rollins.

Game two was a similar tale as the Lady Flames and Tars were deadlocked at 20  before Lee rallied to score four of the next five points to make it  24-21. Rollins would answer with two straight points of its own to pull within one before committing a service error to give Lee a commanding 2-0 advantage in the match.

The Florida club would avoid the sweep with a 25-23 victory in set three before the Lady Flames pulled away from the start to cruise to a fourth set win, 25-17.

Senior middle blocker Catherine Conley led the charge for the Lady Flames as she collected 14 kills on a .323 hitting percentage. The Acworth, Ga. native also made her impact felt on the defensive end with three blocks.

Senior Crystal Dedes followed with 13 slams and was extremely efficient in her attack hitting at a sizzling .522 clip. Silvia Sartori and Brooke Wilsman each registered a double-double. Sartori had 10 kills and 14 digs while Wilsman went for 10 and 15.
Junior setter Sadie Johnson had 30 assists to set-up the attack and Kristi Farley came off the bench to deliver 19 helpers of her own.

Rollins was led by a match-high 20 kills from Bri Civiero. She would also chip in 10 digs and three blocks. Shannon McDonough recorded 14 slams and 12 digs while Gina Carpetta had 42 assists.

The Lady Flames have now won three-straight matches to help propel them back to the .500 mark on the season at 8-8.
