Tigers Snuff Out Lady Flames, 3-0

Conley Delivers Nine Kills in Road Defeat

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Coming off two impressive home victories last weekend the Lee volleyball team found the road less friendly on Tuesday night as it lost in straight sets to West Alabama.

Lee's loss tightens things up in the race for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Gulf South Conference Tournament. The Lady Flames are now 12-13 overall and slip to 8-9 in league play. The victory propels the Tigers to 17-13 and 9-8 in the GSC. They currently sit at number six in the conference with three league matches remaining for both clubs.

Senior Catherine Conley led the Lady Flames with nine slams. Brooke Wilsman and Blaire Beamer tallied eight kills and Carly Callahan followed with six. The Lee offense was missing its leader in sophomore Silvia Sartori who injured her knee in Saturday's victory over West Florida.

Sadie Johnson delivered 21 assists and Makayla Beebe, fresh off GSC Defensive Player of the Week honors, added 15 digs.

Briana Sandifer led all scorers with 20 big kills to lead the way for West Alabama. Yanesha Johnson joined her in double-figures with 12 slams to go along with 20 digs. Callie Murphy set the scoring up with 38 assists.

The Lady Flames will be back home on Friday for their annual Volley For A Cure match as they host West Georgia. The first serve is set for 7 p.m. A special presentation will be made to family dealing with breast cancer in between sets two and three and prior to the match beginning at 5 p.m. a silent auction will be taking place in the lobby of Walker Arena.
