Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lee University men's tennis team swept the doubles matches and cruised to an 8-1 victory over Lees-McRae College. The Flames (10-7) return home on March 30 to face Tennessee Wesleyan College. The non-conference affair is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the DeVos Tennis Center.
Karl Hulten and Charles Jabaley grabbed the first team point for Lee with an 8-2 win over Cole Douglas-Fields and Thomas Deeley. Boyd Blackburn and Eirik Groner defeated Sebastian Zuhr and Garrett Lakey by the same score. Rhys Milne and Jake Okines teamed up to hand Joao Araujo and Gabriel Muniz an 8-3 defeat.
Groner picked up a default win at No. 1 singles and Milne was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Muniz to secure the team win. Okines beat Zuhr, 6-4 and 6-2, while Jabaley posted the same scores against Deeley. Blackburn won both of his sets against Lakey with matching 6-4 marks.
Lees-McRae (0-8) avoided the shutout with Douglas-Field's three-set win over Westley Lemke in the No. 6 slot. Lemke won the opening set, 6-2. Douglas-Fields won the second set, 6-4, and the super-set tie-breaker, 10-3, to give the hosts their lone point.
