Scoring in each of the first five innings, the Lee baseball team jumped out to a big lead, allowing coach Mark Brew to use 21 players in a 14-2 victory over non-conference opponent Young Harris College on Wednesday evening at Olympic Field.
 
The streaking Flames posted their 11^th victory in their last 14 starts and will enter Saturday's Military Appreciation Day doubleheader against Gulf South Conference opponent Christian Brothers University with a 24-14 record.
 
Saturday's action is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start but the gates will open at 1 p.m. as the Flames prepare to honor the veterans and also current members of the military.
 
Lee's 14-hit attack was paced by Ben Holland, Luke Toms, Chris Adams, Miguel Pimentel and Geremy Walton. Each collected two hits apiece. Toms (11^th home run) and Adams (7^th home run) had back-to-back homers in the six-run fifth inning. Toms finished with three RBI and a run scored. Adams had two hits, two RBI and scored twice.
 
Walton stroked a double and a single. Officially, he was 2-of-2 with a pair of runs batted in and two runs scored. Holland ripped his 21^st double of the season. He garnered a pair of RBI and scored twice. Trent Hill drove in two runs with a double, while Tyler Payne collected a RBI single and walked twice.
 
Young Harris scored its only runs in the first and third innings. Zach Beggs drove in both of the Mountain Lions scores with two hits and Luke Miller also had two hits. Young Harris managed only five hits off seven Lee pitchers.
 
Tyler Burcham (2-1) hurled 2 2/3 innings and was credited with the pitching win. Gage Carpenter started and worked 1 1/3 innings, while Christian Bokich, Michael Ray, Rob Gustitus, Winston Whitener and Kyle Briner pitched an inning in the victory. Young Harris starter Jackson Winskie tossed three innings and was charged with the defeat.
 
"I told our starters to try to put this contest away early and that's what they did," said coach Mark Brew. "Jumping out to the 14-2 lead allowed us to get a lot of the reserves some playing time. We have played a lot of tight games this year and I have not been able to play them as much as I would have liked."
 
Brew added that he was looking forward to the Military Appreciation Day. "For the last four years this has been a special opportunity for us to honor our veterans and current military personnel. We invite everyone to come out and join us on Saturday."
