TORRANCE, Calif. – Six Lee University Track & Field athletes competed in eight total events on the second day of the Mt. SAC Relays. The event billed as "Where the world's best athletes compete" is being held at Murdock Stadium on the campus of El Camino College.

"This was a great experience for our athletes," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "We had four personal bests and three performances that should get into nationals at the end of May."

Josiah Brooks took part in three events on Friday. He placed 38th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.80 and was 42nd (21.71) in the 200-meter dash. Brooks recorded a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 14.86 meters. The mark met the NCAA Division II provisional standard.

Justin Brooks joined Josiah in the 200-meter dash and placed 34th with a time of 21.61. He stopped the clock at 47.31 to finish fourth in the 400-meter dash. Norvel Mohammed of Altis was the first to cross the finish line at 46.65. Kenneth Allen of Illinois was second (47.16) and Dusty Fisher of Boise State was third (47.30). Brooks' time is the seventh-fastest in DII this season and a new Lee record.

"Justin really stepped it up today," added Morgan. "The conditions weren't ideal for sprinting with temperatures below 70 degrees, but he still managed to come away with a personal record and move up in the national rankings."

Harold Smith was the first Division II athlete to finish the 800-meter run. He finished fifth overall (first in his heat) with a provisional mark of 1:50.44. Isaiah Jewett of UC Irvine was first (1:48.43) and Brennan Munley of the University of Michigan was second (1:48.71). His time lands him at No. 7 for the season in DII and set a new Lee and personal record.

"Harold ran a perfect tactical race," said Morgan. "This is the breakthrough we have been waiting for. I couldn't be prouder of the way he competed."

Adrian Martin was Lee's representative in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Martin placed 21st in the 100-meter with the ninth-best time in DII this season (11.85). The senior also finished 27th with a provisional time of 24.43 in the 200-meter dash.

Jessica Childers and Cayce Bryan finished 35th and 40th, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Childers recorded a personal record of 2:13.52 and Bryan covered the distance in 2:13.84.

Up next for the Flames and Lady Flames is the Gulf South Conference Championships that will be held in Rome, Ga., from Thursday, April 20, through Saturday, April 22. Shorter University will serve as the host.
