Schedule Alert- Flames Visit No. 11 YHC Tuesday

Jake Brown goes up for the header in last Thursday's match with Palm Beach Atlantic

Thanks to a high volume of rain in the forecast over the next two days the Lee men's soccer team will now travel to No.11 Young Harris College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The match was originally scheduled to be a home contest.

The schedule shake up continues for first-year coach Derek Potteiger and his Flames (1-0-2). Lee was supposed to play a pair of matches in Florida last weekend but due to Hurricane Irma those matches were canceled and Lee ended up hosting No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday. The Flames and Sailfish battled to a 0-0 draw as Lee keeper Tristan Putnam and the defense have now posted two clean sheets to start the season.

The venue change was made in part because the Mountain Lions have a turf field. The Flames are no strangers to the artificial playing surface as they played their opener with Trevecca back on Sept. 1 on a turf field at the Boyd-Buchanan school.

The Mountain Lions (2-1-1) are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Young Harris posted two shutouts to start the season with a 2-0 win over Eckerd and 5-0 drubbing of Southern Wesleyan. The Georgia club tied Tusculum, 1-1 last Wednesday.

After the mid-week clash with Young Harris the Flames will enter Gulf South Conference play as they host Delta State on Friday at 7 p.m. Fans are invited to come on out for a Lee Soccer Field Tailgate to celebrate the start of conference play. The women's team will kick off the event at 5 p.m.  Food will be served hot off the grill and corn hole boards will be set up for fans to enjoy during the doubleheader.
