Volleyball Rolls Past Warhawks, 3-0



MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lee volleyball team swept past Auburn Montgomery in dominating fashion (25-17, 25-17, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon to improve to 9-11 on the year and 7-2 in the Gulf South Conference.
 
Bailey Kress paced the Lady Flames offense with nine kills. Alex Reuter followed closely behind with eight. Hanna Matthews led all athletes with 31 assists while MaKayla Beebe recorded 11 digs to lead the pack.
 
The Lady Flames hit a red hot .318 for the match including a high of .360 in the second set to take down the Warhawks.
 
Auburn Montgomery recorded 21 attacking errors and hit a dreary .055 on the match in falling to 9-11 on the year and remain winless in league play at 0-9.
 
After two wins of 25-17 in sets two and three the Lady Flames made sure no comeback attempt was in order as they jumped out to a 12-1 unsurmountable lead in set three. Lee would end the match with Emily Bento recording her second slam of the year for the clean sweep.
 
The Warhawks were led by Sommer Rhea with nine kills. Carly Smart chipped in with 12 assists, while Rhea, Emily Ward, and Skylar Coppinger recorded nine digs each.
 
Lee returns to Walker Arena and the sport court on Friday as it plays host to Mississippi College at 7 p.m. before entertaining West Alabama on Saturday at 2 p
