Flames Host Statesmen In First GSC Playoff Berth

Sophomore Colton Blevins has led the Flames in scoring during their four-game winning streak.

The Lee men's basketball team will make history on Tuesday night as it qualified for the GSC Playoffs for the first time in program history and jumped all the way up to the No. 4 seed with a late-season surge to earn the right to host the quarterfinal round game against Delta State at 8 p.m.

The Flames won their final four games to close out the regular season including back to back road victories at Delta State and Shorter.

Tickets are just $10 for adults and $3 students. Fans unable to attend can catch all the action on Mix 104.1 and goleeflames.com

With a win the Flames will head to the GSC semifinals which will be held at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday.

What To Look For
The Flames will host the fifth-seeded Delta State after finishing the season at 16-11 and 11-9. Lee swept the season series with the Mississippi Club winning at home on Jan. 18 62-53 and at Delta State on Feb. 17 52-49.

"We are certainly excited to be able to host a playoff game and try and extend our season in front of our great fans who showed up in force tonight and made the trip down to provide great support for us tonight," said head coach Bubba Smith.

Colton Blevins has led the charge for the Flames during the late-season winning streak. The sophomore transfer from
Tennessee Tech has scored 18, 20, 15 and 25 points over the last four games and leads the team with 10.7 ppg.

Chattanooga native Ryan Montgomery follows closely behind at 10.2 a contest and leads the team in rebounding.

Fans should expect a low-scoring battle between the Flames and Statesmen. Delta State leads the league giving up just 63.5 points per game while the Flames are third yielding just 68.9 per contest.

The Statesmen enter coming off an 79-69 rivalry win over Mississippi College and are 13-15 overall and ended 11-9 in conference play. DSU relies on production from their "big 3" in PJ Davis (16.3 ppg), Brett Warner (15.9) and Ravion Henry (11.5). Warner combined for 30 points in the two previous meetings against the Flames.
