Lady Flames Split DH With Trojans



NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Leigh Beatenbough delivered another complete game performance and freshman Kayla Gooch delivered a clutch two-run double in the top of the sixth to give the Lee softball team a 5-3 win over Trevecca Nazarene in game two of Wednesday's twin bill.

Beatenbough, a senior from Canon, Ga., improved to 11-8 on the year as she allowed three runs, two earned in seven innings. She struck out five and walked a batter while giving up seven hits.

While the senior was dealing in the circle it was a freshman sealing the victory at the plate for the Lady Flames.  Gooch ripped a two-out, two-run double to left in the sixth to break the 3-3 tie with the Trojans.

Taylor Moran finished the game with three hits and drove in two. Fresh off being named the GSC Player of the Week, the sophomore is hitting .451 and leads the league with 55 RBI.

Raygn Hall was tagged with the loss and falls to 6-4 on the year for the Trojans. She went 6.1 innings and allowed all five runs on 10 hits.

Megan Grooves hit a solo home run for the Trojans in the fourth while Ali Birchfield and Bailey Alexander each had two singles.

GAME ONE – LEE 2 TREVECCA 5
Savannah Carr (11-2) tossed a complete game and allowed just two unearned runs to give Trevecca a 5-2 victory in game one on Wednesday.

Carr allowed just five hits, struck out five and gave up three walks as her offense spotted her a five-run lead with solo runs in the third and fourth before opening things up with a three-run fifth.

Gooch doubled and singled out of the leadoff spot for the Lady Flames but the offense only mustered three other singles in the contest. Lee got on the board in the final inning as Brooklynn Frazier reach on error allowing two runs to score.

Mary Collins opened up the scoring with a RBI single in the third for the Trojans. Kelsey Seitz followed with a run-scoring double in the fourth. Whited started the rally in the fifth with single up the middle scoring one. Hudgins followed with a RBI double before Seitz drew a bases loaded walk.

Shonna Penney (7-10) lasted 4.2 innings and allowed 10 hits and five runs. Erika Greek finished the final 1.1 innings in the circle for the Lady Flames.
