The Lee University women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by No. 26 University of Montevallo Wednesday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. It was the third time in the last four matches the Lady Flames (8-7, 5-6 GSC) were pitted against a ranked opponent.
Due to injuries, Lee had to play short-handed and defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles to essentially begin the match down 2-0.
Montevallo (20-1, 10-1 GSC) posted scores of 8-2 and 8-1 in the two played doubles matches to pull within one point of clinching the team victory. The Falcons continued their momentum in singles competition where no individual lost more than three games in a match.
The Lady Flames return to action Friday afternoon against Auburn University at Montgomery for their final regular season match. The GSC contest is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
