Volleyball Sinks Lady Bucs, 3-0

Thanks to 19 kills from Silvia Sartori and a sizzling .324 team attack percentage the Lee volleyball team made quick work of the Christian Brothers Lady Bucs in a 3-0 sweep on Friday evening in side Walker Arena.

Sartori, fresh off being named GSC Player of the Week, now has 60 kills over her last three matches, playing some of her best ball of her four-year career.

"Me and Hanna (Matthews) have really built a good connection. She puts the ball in great position for me to put it down," said Sartori after the victory. "I'm so proud of this team and how we are improving every single game. We wanted to bounce back after a tough match Saturday and we came out tonight ready to play."

The Lady Flames jumped out to the early advantage with a dominating 25-14 victory in the opening set. Lee tallied 19 kills and committed just one error while limiting the Lady Bucs to nine kills.

The match featured just six ties and three lead changes as the Lady Flames were never threatened claiming victories of 25-18 in both sets two and three.

When asked about Sartori, head coach Andrea Hudson was quick to note, "I'm so proud of her. Her maturity is showing this season and she is learning now how to adjust when teams game plan for her. When she makes up her mind that she's going to play her game we get a lot out of her and she is tough for the opposing team to handle and that is what you want out of your seniors."

Allie Koepfer added nine kills and 10 digs to the winning cause. Hanna Matthews set the table all match long with 35 assists to go along with 10 digs. Alex Reuter delivered eight slams and three blocks from her middle blocker position.

Emma Lenoir showcased why she leads the GSC and is fifth nationally in kills as she paced the Lady Bucs with 15. Anna Graziosi put together a double-double with 17 assists and 17 digs.

Friday marked the first series sweep 15 matches all-time with the Lady Bucs. Lee is now 5-10 against the Memphis club and ended a four-match losing streak.

We had a little bit of a rough practice yesterday and had a bad taste in our mouth after a tough loss at Montevallo no Saturday so we had to refocus on what our goals were and tonight they bounced back in a big way so I was really proud of the girls," said Hudson.

The win takes the Lady Flames to 7-9 overall and 5-1 and in a five-way tie for first in the GSC.  Christian Brothers falls to 8-10 and 2-4 in conference action.

Lee will entertain Union Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs fell in straight sets to Shorter on Friday night.
