Senior Taylor Boggess enjoyed a career night pouring in 32 points, hitting 11-of-14 shots from the floor and knocking down 7-of-9 3-pointers in leading No. 7 Lee to an 111-48 victory over Johnson University-Tennessee on Tuesday evening inside Walker Arena.
The Lady Flames improved to 8-0 and 13 of the 14 players Coach Marty Rowe inserted into the lineup put points on the board. While Boggess was blistering hot, three other Lady Flames scored in double figures. Abby Bertram tallied 14 points and dished off three assists in 20 minutes of playing time. Morgan Carbaugh and Micah Black came off the bench and countered with 13 points apiece.
Shooting good numbers across the board, the Lady Flames were 54 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 70 percent from the charity stripe. They commanded the boards the entire evening, out-rebounding the Royals 48-24.  Like the scoring, the board play was also balanced with Halle Hughes grabbing six while Becca Cheeks and Boggess pulled down five each. All 14 Lee players had at least one rebound.
The Lady Flames wasted no time in jumping out to a 29-13 lead at the end of the first quarter behind the sizzling shooting of Boggess. The margin grew to 52-18 by halftime. The entire four quarters saw Coach Rowe substitute freely.
Tori Teesateskie hit 8-of-16 shots from the field and canned three treys to lead the Royals in scoring with 19 points. Ashlyn Moran followed with 12 markers and Kinzey Hill pitched in with eight. Teesateskie and Moran collected four rebounds each.
"This was the kind of game we scheduled after the extended Thanksgiving break. I think several of our girls gained some needed confidence as we head into a pair of tougher non-conference games before the GSC openers at West Florida and Valdosta State. The girls responded like I had hoped," explained Coach Rowe after the win.  The coach was also looking for players to step up in the absence of starting point guard Haley Schubert, who missed Tuesday's action with an ankle sprain.
The Lady Flames will be back in action on Saturday, facing Young Harris (2 p.m.). Lee will be seeking revenge after losing a big lead at Young Harris last December, being handed the defeat by the Mountain Lions. Before heading for West Florida, the Lady Flames will be pitted against a good Lander University (SC) on Dec. 11.
