Harrogate, Tenn. – The Lee softball team will look to put Wednesday's doubleheader in the rear view mirror after dropping two games to Lincoln Memorial, 9-3 and 7-0.
The Lady Flames battled back to tie the Railsplitters 3-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning in game one after Caroline Freiling delivered a two-run single in the top of half of the inning.
The home team wasted little time regaining the advantage however as LMU scored three in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take the opener.
Claudia Jones got the Lady Flames on the board with a solo home run in the top of the fifth to get the three-run rally started.
Shonna Penney (2-3) was the losing pitcher as she allowed six runs on seven hits in two innings in the circle. Taylor De Adder tossed the final four frames giving up three runs while striking out five.
Bailey Griffith (3-0) remained undefeated for the Railsplitters as she threw the first three innings allowing just three hits.
Kelsie Hocutt led the way for LMU at the dish going 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBI. Emma Webb added three hits and Ty-Kella Goins had three hits and scored two runs.

Lincoln Memorial kept the momentum going in the nightcap, topping the Lady Flames, 7-0.
Lee managed just three hits off of starter Bailey Griffith (4-0) who went the distance and struck out three while yielding just one free pass. Bailey Church had the lone extra base hit in the game for Lee with a triple.
Hocutt continued to swing the hot stick as she doubled and singled. Sierra Hucklebee and Goins each drove in a pair. The Railsplitters pounded out 10 hits in the contest.
Stevie Baird (2-1) labored through 4.1 innings and was tagged with five runs (four earned) on seven hits. Abby McKinney finished out the game in the circle for Lee and gave up two runs on three hits and three walks in 1.2 innings.
"We didn't play well today. We have to be tougher and compete every day at practice or at a game," said Lee head coach Emily Russell. "There was no excuse for playing as poorly as we did today."
The Lady Flames will get a chance to compete right away as they welcome No. 22 Valdosta State to town for the Gulf South Conference opening series. Game one will be on Friday at 1 p.m. from Butler Field.
