ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lee University women's tennis team began its Spring Break trip with a 7-0 win over Seton Hill University Sunday morning at the USTA National Campus. The Lady Flames improved to 5-2, while the Griffins went to 4-4.
The Lady Flames swept the doubles competition to pick up the team point. Sierra Donaldson and Laura Beth Hardesty beat Kaitlyn Walch and Abby Herman 6-0. Carley Sickinger and Lisa Kirr also posted a shutout victory at No. 2 doubles against Cameron Beer and Ana Salazar. Asia Grzegrzolka and Micaela Belen Maiz completed the sweep with a 6-1 win over Jenna Bailey and Kaelyn Zak at No. 1 doubles.
Sickinger dropped just two games to beat Bailey at No. 1 singles. Lauren Trammell lost one game in beating Salazar in the fourth position. Hardesty was a 6-2, 6-1 winner against Walch at No. 5 singles to clinch the team match.
Kirr held off Beer to win their opening set 6-4 and completed the straight-set win with a 6-0 score in the second set. Lauren Good posted scores of 6-1 and 6-3 to beat Herman at No. 6 singles. Grzegrzolka secured the team shutout with 6-1 and 6-3 set scores against Zak.
The Lady Flames have a couple days off before hitting the courts again on Wednesday against Hampton University. The non-conference match is scheduled for noon at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
