Flames Breeze By Clark University 7-0



ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lee University men's tennis team needed a little over an hour to defeat Clark University early Monday afternoon at the USTA National Campus. The Flames improved to 5-2, while the Cougars from Worcester, Mass., dropped to 4-6.

Daniel Prata and Antonio Pons gave Lee the early advantage with a 6-0 win over Ian Levy and Josh Podolsky. Jake Okines and Bruno Medeiros posted the same score against Jack Han and Andrey Samodaev to secure the team doubles point. Jesus Garcia and Cristian Pons completed the sweep with a 6-0 shutout of Jacob Malicky and Alex Hattenbach.

Cristian Pons opened the singles scoring with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Levy at the fourth position. Medeiros was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Malicky. Okines clinched the team victory with 6-0 and 6-0 scores against Han.

Schroeder did not drop a game in beating Duncan Drapeau at No. 6 singles. Antonio Pons won his No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-1 to push the score to 6-0. Prata completed the team shutout with matching 6-1 set scores over Hattenbach at No. 3 singles.

The Flames are scheduled to compete again on Wednesday against Hampton University. The non-conference match is scheduled for noon at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
