ROME, Ga. – The Lee University women's track & field team looks to claim its third-consecutive title at the Gulf South Conference Track & Field Championships this week at Barron Stadium. The Lady Flames have placed first the past two years after finishing second at the 2016 GSC Championships.
The Lady Flames held off Alabama Huntsville by 3 ½ points to win the 2018 GSC Championship in Clinton, Miss.
"Our conference has become increasingly more competitive the last four years," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "The top end quality of each team will play a bigger role in winning this year than in years past. We want to be within striking distance going into day three of the championship. Both championships are going to come down to the final events."
Entering this week's competition, Lee holds the top mark in three of 21 events reported this season. The Lady Flames also have five second-place performances and six that are third-best.
