Lady Flames Edged By Lincoln Memorial 4-3


HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lee University women's tennis team lost a hard-fought match 4-3 at Lincoln Memorial University. The Lady Flames record is now even at 3-3, while LMU improved to 7-1.

Lisa Kirr and Matina Ujdur posted a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Johanna Delisse and Julia Valls. The Railsplitters recovered to win the final two doubles matches to earn the team point.

Samantha Hogan and Kristin Vogel were 6-2 winners over Lauren Trammell and Sierra Donaldson at No. 3 doubles. Kiersten Waugh and Amanda Dahlstrom outlasted Micaela Belen Maiz and Carley Sickinger 7-5 to secure the double's point.

Belen Maiz ??evened the scored with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Waugh. Sickinger posted a three-set win over Delisse to put the Lady Flames in front. Sickinger won the opening set 7-5 before losing the second set 7-6 with a 7-2 tie-breaker score. She doubled-up Delisse 6-3 in the third set to win the match. Kirr downed Julia Valls 6-3 and 6-3 at No. 2 singles to put Lee up 3-1.

Dahlstrom held off Donaldson 7-5, 7-6 at the fifth position. Claudia Rodriguez defeated Ujdur 6-0, 6-3 to even the team score at 3-3 with the No. 6 singles match left to be decided.

Dana Moreno won the first set 6-4, but Vogel forced a third set with a 6-3 mark in the second set. Vogel duplicated her second-set score to secure the singles win and clinch the team win.

"It was a good match," said Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "Congrats to LMU. Mica is playing well right now. Lisa had to fight for her win and made some great adjustments. Carley held it together really well when things weren't going her way. We just needed to be a bit better in doubles throughout the lineup, it cost us a bit today."

The Lady Flames return to Gulf South Conference action on Saturday with a trip to Livingston, Alabama and a date with West Alabama. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EST.
