Lady Flames Sizzle in 23-3 Domination of Converse College

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Lee women's lacrosse team scored 14 unanswered first half goals to roll past Converse College for fourth straight win on Monday evening.

The Lady Flames improve to 6-2 on the year after winning just four games last season. The four-game winning streak is record for the fourth-year program. The Valkyries fall to 0-6 on the year. Lee dominated its two-game swing through South Carolina outscoring Erskine and Converse by a combined score of 42-9.

Shayna Ryan paced the Lee scoring with four goals while Kaylyn Dillon and Jolee Davis added three each. Giselle Gonzalez, Kelsey McGowen, Dariana Blanton and Brittney White also tallied multiple scores with two each.

The high-powered Lady Flame offense out shot the home team, 45-4 and took 37 shots on goal. Lee was a perfect 6 of 6 on clears while Converse struggled to clear the ball going just 5 of 11. The Lady Flames scooped up 19 ground balls and allowed just four. Possession stayed with Lee all match long thanks to a 24-4 edge in draw controls.

"We were very efficient on offense tonight against a hustling Converse team," said Lee head coach Derrel Martin. "We only had eight turnovers which helped give us more opportunities to score. We kept the ball moving and that allowed for multiple players to contribute to the scoring."

White added to her NCAA D2 leading 11.2 draw controls per game with 16. Dillon added six to go along with five ground balls.

"Kaylyn Dillon had one of her better nights with three goals, no missed shots and six draw controls. Shayna Ryan had four goals and three assists for a solid outing while Brittney White was again dominate on the draw," added Martin.

Lindsey Glass allowed just three goals in earning the win in goal for the Lady Flames. Madalynn Brunner registered 14 saves and allowed 23 goals in net for the Valkyries.

The Lady Flames will return home on Friday for a tough in-region test against No. 23 Saint Leo. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
