Lee Golf Names Former LPGA Pro, Shepley Assistant Coach

Director of Golf John Maupin is joined by his new women's assistant, Jessica Shepley.

She previously served as an assistant coach last season to both the men's and women's golf program at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Shepley completed her Master's degree in Sports Administration from the University of Miami in 2019.

A highly decorated player herself, Shepley competed in the professional ranks for nine seasons (2005-2014). She was a member of The Duramed Futures Tour (Symetra Tour), The LPGA Tour, The Canadian Women's Golf Tour and the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour.

Shepley secured five wins during her professional career that included two Canadian Women's Golf Tour titles, two Canadian PGA Championship titles and one victory on The Duramed Futures Tour. She also competed in three majors on the LPGA Tour, The US Women's Open in 2013 and two appearances in The Women's PGA Championship (2011, 2012).

"This is an exciting time for our program, and we are very happy to welcome Jessica into the Lee University family.  She is a great fit to our team, and what we are trying to accomplish.  She has played golf at the highest level, with success, and her experience will be a great asset to our team," said Maupin. "However, it was her energy and passion that really stood out to me, and I think she will be someone who can come in and instantly connect with our players and do a good job of helping them continue to grow both, on and off the course."

Shepley graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Communication. She served as Captain for The Lady Vol golf team for three seasons and was the women's golf representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee all four years. Jessica compiled 12- top 10 finishes while at UT, including a T4 finish at the 2004 SEC Championship, a 5th place finish at the 2004 NCAA Championship a 3rd place finish at the 2005 SEC Championship.

Shepley received NGCA All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2004, while also receiving The University of Tennessee's Female Athlete Outstanding Community Service Award that year. She was also a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, The University of Tennessee Academic Honor Roll and was the NCAA Sportsmanship Award recipient during her time in Knoxville.

"I am thrilled to be joining the women's golf program at Lee University. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming since I've arrived in Cleveland, and I have no doubt that Coach Maupin will be the perfect mentor as I continue to learn and progress as a leader," Shepley said. "I cannot wait for the team to get back on campus so we can start preparing for the season and continue to build on this great program."

Jessica is married to Lt. Andrew Boris of Lake County Fire Rescue and has a stepson Andrew (10).
