Warhawks Hand Lady Flames, 3-1 Defeat

The Lee volleyball completed a difficult three-match homestand with a 3-1 loss to Auburn Montgomery on Saturday afternoon at Walker Arena.

The Lady Flames seemed to still be dazed from a tough battle with West Florida the night before as the Warhawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with 25-10 and 25-14 victories.

The Lady Flames battled back in set three with a 25-22 victory to avoid the sweep. The Warhawks answered right back with a 25-12 victory in set four to finish off the match.

Emma Flowers led the way for the Lady Flames with nine kills and four blocks. Lyssi Snouffer posted seven kills and 15 digs and Macy Petty posted six kills with four blocks. Reagan Bratton added 16 assists and had three kills.

"We have to find some consistency as a team," said first-year head coach Callie Murphy. "There's moments where we bring the intensity and execute like we are capable like today in the third set but we have to be able to focus for a full match, especially against two of the better teams in the GSC."

Giada Pais-Marden posted a match-high 14 kills. Maria Nicolau registered 13 and Keren Santana chipped in 11. Santana also made her presence felt in the serving game with four aces and at the net with four blocks. Isadora Nicolai tallied a double-double with 21 assists and 18 digs.

"We have to get focused this weekend and I think stepping out of conference will help us take a deep breath and reset," noted Murphy. "The crossover tournament will provide a good test for us, and we will need to get back to playing a consistent type of winning volleyball that I know we are capable of."

The Lady Flames will find out who they play in the Sunshine State/Gulf South Crossover Tournament on tomorrow. Lee will be matched up with three Sunshine State schools down in Orlando, Fla. beginning on Friday.
