"Riley was outstanding," said Coach Chris Hennessey. "I was pleased with the way our entire team started play tonight. The length of the field was a bit unusual, but our girls adapted well. West Alabama is never an easy place to play but our girls were ready for the challenge. Now, we will go back up to Tuscaloosa, rest tomorrow and then get ready to face Alabama Huntsville (2 p.m.) on Sunday."
The Lady Flames will return to Ray Conn Sports Complex on Thursday and close out the regular season against Shorter University.
In one of the best shooting nights of the year, the Lady Flames took 14 shots and placed 11 on goal. Again, Lee's aggressive midfield and defenders held West Alabama to only five shots and they had three on target. Lee keeper Jackie Burns had two saves and was credited with the victory. Tiger goalkeeper Tabitha Weldon was credited with five saves and took the loss. Both squads had three corner kicks. West Alabama was whistled for 14 fouls and Lee eight.
