Bulldogs Cool Flames, 3-0

Jackson, Tenn. – The Union Bulldogs started fast and never looked back in handing the Lee volleyball team a 3-0 loss on Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs exacted some revenge after dropping a thrilling five-set battle to the Lady Flames in Cleveland back in September. Union dominated the first two sets winning by a combined scored of 50-26.

The Lady Flames battled back in set three and tied things up at 21 before giving up four-straight points to end the match.

Hannah Upton led the Lady Flames with eight kills while Allie Whittinghill added seven. Emma Flowers posted three kills and three aces.

"Tonight was just a bit of inconsistency on our part. We had a great fight in the third, but it just came a little too late," said head coach Callie Murphy. "Congrats to a solid Union team. I felt their middles and defense were impeccable tonight."

The Bulldogs were paced by Laura Rose Gray with 11 slams and three blocks. Emily Grace Calhoon added eight kills and Alyssa Tatsch had six. Haley Ramsey fired home five aces to go along with 12 digs. Jordan Vick set things up with 28 assists and delivered three service aces.

"Now we will end our regular season on the road with CBU. I'm looking forward to see how we can bounce back from this loss and take a victory tomorrow to end our season on a high note," added Murphy.

The Lady Flames fall to 7-19 overall and 5-10 in the GSC. Union improves to 19-12 and are 10-5 in the league play. Tonight's loss officially eliminates Lee from postseason play.
