West Georgia completed the sweep of the No. 15 Lee men's basketball team with an 85-75 victory on Saturday afternoon in Walker Arena.
The Flames appeared to put Friday's tough one-point loss in the rear-view mirror as they scored the first 16 points of the game before the Wolves finally got on the board five minutes into the contest on a free throw.
The tough-minded West Georgia club would regain its footing however and closed the gap to just a single point at halftime before shooting 55 percent in the second half while scoring 56 points.
"We struggled to get stops tonight and that's been something we've done well most of the season. Anytime we felt like we were going to string some stops together and make a run they had an answer. Adversity can be a great teacher if you let it and so we need to find ways to continue to improve and get better. We know what produces winning basketball and we need to get back that, particularly on the defensive end," said Lee head coach Bubba Smith.
Quay Kennedy went 11 of 17 from the field to register a game-high 29 points and six rebounds. Beyuan Hendricks tallied 17 and dished off five assists and Jayce Willingham followed with 16.
Jalen Sasser was an efficient 10 of 12 from the field to account for 22 points for the Wolves. Michael Zabetakis added 15 points and Deng Nhial finished with 12. The Wolves were a perfect 16 of 16 from the foul line, including going 11 for 11 in the second half to limit any opportunity for a Lee comeback.
West Georgia forced the Flames into 18 turnovers and turned that into 27 points. Lee created just eight turnovers for nine points.
The loss drops the Flames to 9-4 on the year and 1-3 in their last four contests. The Wolves improve to 8-6 after winning their sixth consecutive game.
Lee will look to get back on track as it ventures down to Alabama to take on Montevallo next Friday and Saturday.
