The Lee University men's tennis team posted its first conference win of the season with a 7-0 blanking of Shorter University Friday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center.
The Flames (6-3, 1-2 GSC) made quick work of the visiting Hawks (2-5, 0-5 GSC) in doubles competition. Jesus Garcia and Cristian Pons took down Connor Gunnell and Jovan Cirkovic 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Daniel Prata and Jordi Dasi won their No. 3 doubles match with Jacob Gailey and Kirandevaa Namadevan 6-2. Bruno Medeiros and Antonio Pons completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win over Strahinja Radanovic and Jan Kos at the top position.
Cristian Pons continued the Lee momentum with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Namadevan. Garcia defeated Radanovic 6-3 and 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Nico Ramirez held off Kos to win their first set 7-5 and clinched the team victory with a 6-3 score in the second set.
Dasi posted 6-1 scores in both sets to beat Cirkovic in the fourth position. Diego Garcia dropped just two games to Mac Latimer in the sixth spot. Antonio Pons was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at No. 5 singles to complete the shutout.
The Flames return to action on Sunday against West Alabama. The GSC match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
